Warner Bros. has announced now that Jesse Eisenberg will play Lex Luthor in the upcoming "Man Of Steel" sequel, with Jeremy Irons too on board in the role of Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred. The news comes out of left field, with nobody predicting this turn of events, even though we need to say it's pretty welcome. It is usually intriguing to see how Superman deals with a adversary who's actually his own age (Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg are each 30), and it can be a fairly nice strategy to tweak the canon. (Also: Eisenberg can play an excellent asshole.)
